LÂG celebrates the tradition of French Gypsy jazz with the SWING LÂG series
Born in the 1930s with Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club de France, Gypsy jazz gave birth to a unique musical identity. At the same time, in Paris, the Italian luthier Mario Maccaferri was designing an iconic guitar that would define the sound and shape of this singular style.
The SWING LÂG series pays homage to this heritage by combining historical inspiration, renowned manufacturing quality, careful design and a sense of harmony.
Historical inspiration and modern requirements
True to the heritage of Gypsy jazz guitars, the SWING LÂG models adopt the iconic "small mouth" shape. Renowned for its focused projection and precise articulation in solo playing, it proves equally effective in accompaniment, offering the responsiveness and precision essential for rhythm playing.
These instruments incorporate the essential elements that define the sound of the genre: a wooden bridge combined with a metal tailpiece for optimal vibration transmission and a characteristic attack, as well as Argentine strings, renowned for their clarity, flexible tension and quick response.
In keeping with tradition, the openwork headstock and metal-shaft tuners retain the original aesthetic, while benefiting from an oil-bath system that ensures reliable and precise tuning. The assembly is completed by a double-action truss rod, allowing for fine-tuning of the neck and lasting stability.
Thus, the SWING LÂG collection offers instruments that combine authenticity and reliability, capable of standing out in the mix while retaining all the dynamic richness of gypsy jazz.
